Moira Lomas – Te Mana Whakamahi Mō Ngā Toi Māori

Toi Iho, the mark of authenticity and quality in Māori art, is committed to supporting educators in integrating Māori knowledge and values into their teaching. This presentation will present and clarify IP using tikanga, and it’s use in schools, empowering educators to respect and protect Māori cultural and intellectual property while fostering student creativity.
Participants will also gain access to the comprehensive database of Toi Iho registered Māori artists. This resource allows educators to identify practitioners for students to connect to for enriched learning experiences. From creating art projects grounded in tikanga Māori to engaging directly with Māori artists, this session equips educators with tools to inspire students and honour the cultural integrity of Māori art.
Join us to learn how Toi Iho supports educators in weaving authenticity, respect, and innovation into visual arts education.
