Lisa Purda – Design – Going analogue to go digital!

In this workshop creative educators will create a resource they can use in their Design classes. It will focus on visual communication using mark making for design, exploration of typography, photography and basic compositional conventions within the digital space.

Lisa has created this for her Level 1 Photo/Design Course (to be included in the 1.3 workbook as a foundation skill that students can then evolved for their folio) but it can also be used at any level if students are new to this approach. This workshop will run in two parts:

Part 1: Analogue Workshop – Maker Space Creation Of Bespoke Design Elements
Creative educators will create marks on paper with a range of media including paint, Indian ink and fine line marker. They will also create a bespoke collagraph letter/number or symbol to explore typography. Then, using the magical power of air drying (hair dryers not air fryers lol) we will dry the work and prepare to digitise it! We will then scan in the analogue media and take it into the digital space to create some custom textured designs that can be used for the workbook and beyond.

Part 2: Digital Workshop – Maker Space Purposeful Creation Of Unique Design
We will discuss the power of black and white with a pop of colour for feature design and sharing of information. Along with the colour conversation we will consider how we delve into colour theory with our Level 1 students and how this sets them up for Level 2 & their future creative pathways.

We will learn some basics of the Adobe Creative Cloud software including Photoshop, InDesign & Bridge.

Delegates will need to bring their own laptop with Adobe Suite to the workshop.
