This resource provides some ideas and guidance about suitable learning activities for Unit 1 of the Year 9 Visual Arts Annual Plan published by the Ministry of Education, which has a Design focus. This resource is not intended to be taught as a whole unit of work. Slides and activities can be selected to suit your students or might be used as starting points to develop further learning activities for your classroom.
Annual plans, which are available on the Tahurangi website, are designed to help schools plan programmes of teaching and learning for the new curriculum. Each school still needs to create a plan and design learning activities that best suits their learners and their local context. Teachers should always consult curriculum documents when developing their own units of work.
